Linda M. Sconiers

Mrs. Linda M. Sconiers was born June 17, 1952, in Andalusia, to the late Robert and Francis Mathews. She departed this life early Friday morning, Jan. 13, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family.

Services are planned for 11 a.m. Thurs., Jan. 19, at the Kiwanis Community Center. Bro. Bishnoo Rampasad will officiate.

Linda graduated from Andalusia High School in 1971 and was an active member of the Andalusia community. Linda had a strong passion for the Lord and loved the church. At a very young age she confessed Christ and was a faithful and dutiful member of Second Street Church of Christ, Andalusia. In addition to her love of the Lord, Linda was a master gardener and loved her flower beds and plants.

For many years Linda worked at Alatex, the State of Alabama Unemployment Center and prior to her illness, Linda worked for Covington County as a transit driver with Covington Area Transit System of Andalusia.

Her life and memory will be forever cherished by her loving and devoted husband of 42 years, Will Sconiers Jr., Andalusia; mother-in-law, Mrs. Josie Sconiers, Andalusia; son Alfred (Jerry) McGugin, Washington, D.C.; daughter Melissa (Marcus) Russell; Redmond, WA; special daughter, Patrice McClain, Montgomery; grandchildren, Jahi Coleman, Redmond, WA, Lijah and Marshall Russell, Redmond, WA, and Gary Darnell McClain, Montgomery; god-granddaughter Tamara Griffin, Andalusia; brothers, John Robert (Jannie) and James Mack (Sue) Mathews; sisters, Julia (Willie) Walker, Helen (Willie) Moore, and Eileen (Eugene) McKay; and one sister-in-law, Essie Mathews. Linda will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews and all the children of the Andalusia community that affectionately called her “mom” and “Aunt Linda.”

Linda is proceeded in death by her mother and father, Francis and Robert Mathews; her sister Aleathea Wilkerson’ and brothers, Billy, William and “Lil” Robert Mathews; and, brothers-in-law, Willie Moore and Charles Wilkerson Sr.

 

 

Robert E. La Pan

Mr. Robert E. La Pan, 85, of Andalusia, passed away Tues., Jan. 17, 2017, at the Andalusia Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Fri., Jan. 20, at Good Hope Cemetery with Brother Gary Holloway officiating and Foreman Funeral Home directing. The family will visit with friends at the cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Merlene S. La Pan of Andalusia; four daughters and sons-in-law, Donna Mongin of Savannah, Ga., DaNean and Joseph Pound of New Brockton, Stephanie and Marty Koellner of Lexington, S.C., and Lori Cyr of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sons, Ron La Pan of Savannah, Ga., and Michael Johnson of Dozier; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and his in-laws, James V. and Olene Sanders of Andalusia.

He is preceded in death by his grandson, Pierre Koellner.

Pallbearers will be Michael Johnson, Joseph Pound, Richard Myers, Daniel Myers, Veston Koellner, and Marty Koellner.
