Volunteers making sundaes for Sweet Shoppe

Time is drawing near to make sure everyone gets a special Valentine’s Day “kiss,” as Meredith’s Miracles prepares for its annual Sundae and Sweet Shoppe fundraiser.

To help the event go off without a hitch, MM’s Kylie Spears said volunteers are still needed to help make sundaes.

“We will be at the old Yo Craving location on the Court Square,” she said.

There are a lot of things volunteers can do, from washing vases to putting candies down in the jars to helping with ribbons and more.

This year’s sundaes include bubble gum, peppermint, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Tootsie Rolls, and Hershey Kisses.

Lindt truffles will also be available in milk chocolate, white chocolate and Irish crème.

Sugar-free, hard candy selections are available upon request.

Regular sundaes are $20 each, and the Lindt truffles are $30.

The store will open for business on Feb. 1, Spears said.

“We will be open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.,” she said.

Additionally, people can elect to build a basket, which can include stuffed animals, Simply GiGi’s treats and more.

“It’s a great way to send a gift to your children, teachers, secretaries and others,” Spears said.

This will be the 12th straight year of sundae sales for the charity in honor of Meredith McGlamory, the daughter of Janna Marsh and Russell McGlamory, who passed away from a form of childhood cancer in 2003.

The charity assists parents who have to leave the area to get specialty medical care for their children by helping with non-medical related expenses, such as gas, lodging and food for families.
