The State Fire Marshal’s Office says the fatal fire that occurred Sunday morning near Potter Road north of Opp appears to be accidental.

Steve Holmes, spokesperson, for the Alabama Fire Marshal’s Office, said that the department continues to investigate the cause and origin of the fire.

Holmes identified the victim as Linda Harrison.

The Opp Fire Department, along with Babbie Volunteer Fire Department, responded to the trailer fire off of Potter Road around 12:15 a.m., Sunday.

Opp Fire Chief Cory Spurlin said that when they arrived there was heavy fire showing in the trailer.

Spurlin said the person who called 911 told the dispatcher there was possibly someone inside the residence.

“We did a fire search,” he said. “And we did find one person in the home who succumbed to the fire.”

Holmes said the fire mashal’s office was on the scene of the fire on Tuesday continuing its investigation.
