Chamber honors top educators, student honored [with photos]

The Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce also presented education awards Tuesday night.
Brandi Evans was named elementary school teacher of the year. Evans teaches Alabama history and English at WS Harlan Elementary.
Tammy Pickard was named middle school teacher of the year. She is a sevent grade science teacher from Andalusia Junior High School.
Jane Barr was the high school teacher of the year. She has taught ninth – twelfth grade special education for more than 25 years.
Other finalists included Betty Holmes of Andalusia Elementary; Joyce Mitchell of Straughn Elementary; Tammy Pickard of Andalusia Junior High School; Sherri Williams of Straughn High School; and Jennifer Supri of Red Level High School.
Student of year
Caleb Evers was named student of the year. He serves as SGA vice president, National Honor Society president and Spanish Club president at Straughn High School.
Other finalists for student of the year were Sissy Martin of Pleasant Home; Caleb Whitehurst and Joel Bass of Straughn; Marianne Vigor of Red Level; and Tyler Garvin, Cooper Gooden, Rachel Dayton, Calli Filmer, Amber Myers and Allen Butler of Andalusia.
