Straughn Elementary School is inviting the community to participate in next week’s random acts of kindness week.

Mandi Morris, SES counselor, said this is something they would love for the community to get involved in.

Morris said she is challenging SES students to complete as many of the challenges as possible from the Great Kindness Challenge.

“It has a check list of ideas for RAK Week that we are doing in addition to the dress up days and poster contest,” she said. “Character at Heart encouraged us to promote it in our communities to and get everyone involved.”

Morris said some popular random acts of kindness ideas including picking up trash in front of a neighbor’s home; paying for the person behind you in a drive-through, leaving a thank you gift for your mail carrier or trash collector; baking some cookies for the fire or police department; leaving quarters at the Laundromat or drink machine; bringing donuts for your co-workers, or something as simple as smiling and complimenting someone else.

The Character at Heart program is sponsored by Covington Electric Cooperative. The Character Ed coordinators from each of the county schools meet often with the Character at Heart staff from Montgomery to share ideas.

Random Acts of Kindness week is Feb. 13 through Feb. 17.
