Bobcats’ season comes to a close

The Opp Bobcat basketball squads saw their season come to an end on Tuesday night in the Class 3A, Area 3 semi-finals in Geneva.
GIRLS
GENEVA 67, OPP 14
In the opening game of the evening, the Lady Bobcats (1-16) just couldn’t hang with the speedy Geneva Lady Panthers.
Kaylee Raines was the game’s leading scorer as she paced Geneva with 17 points.
Frankie Vickrey led the way for the Lady Bobcats with 6 points.
Autumn Killough and Taniyah Thompson each chipped in 4 points for the Lady Bobcats.
Geneva takes on Straughn tonight at 5 p.m., for the area championship in Geneva.
BOYS
GENEVA 69, OPP 59
The Bobcats (7-12) put up a strong fight against Geneva, but a late surge gave the Panthers a 69-59 victory.
Opp got a big night from Tye Lindsey who finished with 15 points for the Bobcats.
The Bobcats didn’t allow a single Geneva bench player to score a bucket, but the Panthers had all five starters reach double-digit point totals.
Treshawn Clay and Kade McLaney each had 17 points in the win for Geneva.
Opp’s Greg House (13 points) and Hennis Washington (10 points) also reached double-digit scoring figures.
With the loss, the Bobcats’ season has come to an end.
Geneva will take on Straughn tonight in the area championship game at 6:30 p.m., in Geneva.
