The five families displaced by Tuesday’s tornado have received assistance from the Red Cross.
“Kevin Kennedy, our community volunteer leader, met with the families the day of the storm,” said Mike Brown, executive director of the South Alabama Chapter of the American Red Cross, based in Mobile. “I was there the next morning at 7:30 to meet with Kevin.”
Brown said he and Kennedy went to the disaster sight at the RV park near Tracks Lane.
“We went to the disaster site and met with the families,” he said. “We later met with them at the hotel at which they were staying and gave direct financial assistance to all five families.”
Brown said there was a home outside the RV park that was affected and the Red Cross helped the home owner as well.
“Each family was given enough to lodge them for at least two or three nights,” he said.
