The Andalusia Board of Education on Monday authorized the superintendent to let bids for replacing all of the windows on the front of “Old Main,” the central part of Andalusia High School.

Superintendent Ted Watson said the current windows were installed in the mid-80s. Watson said there are approximately 48 windows, and that some of them are quite large.

He expects the project to cost approximately $100,000, and told the board that a portion of the city sales tax it receives has been previously designated for improvements there.

In other business, the board accepted resignations from:

  • Frank Schaffer, custodian, maintenance, bus driver at AHS.
  • Paula Sue Duebelt, part-time choral teacher, AHS and AJHS.

The board also granted a leave of absence to Samantha Bradley, AJHS secretary, bookkeeper.
