Covington Electric Cooperative’s Relay For Life team will host its 1st Annual Fishing For A Cure Bass Tournament on Sat., April 8, at Point A Park. The cost is $100 per team (two-person) with a five fish limit and 12” minimum per fish.

First boat out will be at safe light and weigh-in will take place at 3 p.m. Prize money is based on 30 boat entries with $900 for 1st Place, $400 for 2nd Place and $200 for 3rd Place. If fewer than 30 boats participate, prize money will be based on a percentage of entries.

“We are very excited to be hosting a fishing tournament for the first time,” said Patty S. Seay, CEC Relay team captain. “Our team has already had one fundraiser and we will also host the annual Relay For Life Golf Tournament on April 21. This fishing tournament was another fun way we could raise money to help fight cancer. Everyone on our team has been touched by this terrible disease and participating in Relay For Life is our way to unite and make a difference,” she added.

The CEC Relay team is very appreciative to Custom Collars of Opp who graciously donated a 35 Qt. Yeti Cooler to be raffled off on the day of the fishing tournament.

“We are currently selling chances for $1 or 12 chances for $10 for this cooler and anyone who is interested can buy a chance at the CEC main office in Sanford,” Seay said.

Registration forms for the fishing tournament are available on the CEC website at www.covington.coop.

Just click on the Relay For Life tab under Community Involvement. Registration forms can be turned in at the main office in Sanford.

All proceeds from this tournament will benefit the American Cancer Society.
