The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs got the season started off with a win on Tuesday night, but fell to Dale County 8-1 Thursday night in Midland City.
In the top of the first inning, the Lady Bulldogs got singles from Haley Harper and Olivia Amerson to start the game, but weren’t able to push them around to score.
The Lady Bulldogs started out the top of the second inning with a pair of strikeouts before Chloe Mikel reached on a two-out error.
Mikel then wandered a little too far away from the bag and was picked off first by the Dale County catcher to end the Lady Bulldogs half of the second inning.
Dale County got back-to-back singles to start the bottom of the third inning and give them a 1-0 lead.
One batter later, Dale County got another run off of a fielder’s choice.
Zaria Jones picked up a two-out single to get things started for the Lady Bulldogs in the top of the third inning.
Lady Bulldog starting pitcher Sydney Ray followed with a triple to left field that allowed Jones to score from first.
The Lady Bulldogs continued to claw, but Dale County picked up six more runs over the next three innings to defeat Andalusia 8-1.
Ray finished the game with five strikeouts, two walks and six earned runs.
