‘Mama Giddens’ turns 101

Family and friends of Nadine Maddox Giddens, celebrated her 101st Birthday (Feb. 21) on Sunday.
Mama Giddens, as she is affectionately called by her family, is the daughter of the late Pierce and Bonnie Maddox and wife of the late Dan Giddens.
Attendees spent time reminiscing of days gone by while enjoying refreshments and socializing with friends and family.
Mama Giddens impressed those in attendance with her vivid recollections of events and people from her early youth.
Having moved to Covington County in the late 1920s, she recounted her family’s journey to Andalusia following the Elba flood of 1929.
She also took time to cuddle and love her great, great-grandbabies.
Six of these fifth generation darlings are pictured with Mama Giddens and daughter Evelyn Bradley.
Special thanks to nieces Gail Grissett, Dianne Foshee and Rebecca Maddox for their help with the festivities. Thanks also to the staff of Andalusia Manor, who were instrumental in the success of this momentous occasion.
With continued good health and positive attitude that is uniquely Mama Giddens, we fully expect to be having another celebration next year at milestone 102.
