Locals who have outstanding warrants in Georgiana Municipal Court can take advantage of their amnesty court next month.
Court Clerk Beverly Rogers said this week that there are people with a variety of outstanding warrants in the court and they will be able to avoid jail and/or additional penalties during the amnesty court.
“Because no warrants will be served during amnesty court, no one participating will have an arrest record from charges handled on this date,” she said.
The court will be April 6 from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m.
“Pleas of guilty will be accepted by the judge, fines will be paid and warrants recalled,” she said. “In cases where driver’s license suspensions have been issued, clearances will be generated so that driving privileges may be reinstated through the Department of Public Safety.”
Rogers said those who wish to take advantage of the program must call Georgiana Municipal Court at 334-376-0205 before the court so that the files may be prepared.
“It is important to not that should an individual with an outstanding warrant come into contact with law enforcement before amnesty court, he or she will be subject to arrest.”
