Bulldogs drop Bobcats

The Andalusia Bulldogs fought their way back for a 9-8 victory over the Opp Bobcats Wednesday afternoon in Opp.

In the top of the first inning, Andalusia’s Ethan Wilson was hit by a pitch and then came around to score on a sacrifice from Hogan Nichols.

Opp responded in the bottom half of the first inning with four runs to take an early lead.

Orlando Lacey scored the first run of the game for the Bobcats’ after he reached first after being hit by a pitch.

The Bulldogs then got careless with the baseball an two errors on one play led to the Bobcats going on top 4-1.

Andalusia got things going in the second inning with a pair of walks and then a double from Gill Morgan made the score 4-2.

Riley Graham then ripped a double that sailed over the head of the Bobcat right fielder and rolled to the fence.

Two runs came across to score and Graham stopped a second with a double.

The Bulldogs grabbed the lead back in the top of the fourth inning off of an run scoring single from Nichols.

Opp battled back in the bottom of the fifth inning and tied the game up at 6-6 with a one-run single from Lane Worley.

The Bulldogs tacked on two more runs in the top of the sixth inning, but Andalusia errors in the bottom of the inning allowed the Bobcats to tie the game at 8-8.

Andalusia used small ball in the top of the seventh to push across Will Jones for the game’s winning run.

“Our fight has really risen over the past few games,” Andalusia head coach Tyler Dent said. “We have finally started to play seven innings. We were able to get some production at the plate on our hit and runs, and I thought we competed well on the mound. This was a total team effort today, and I’m proud of them for that.”
