The CW announced earlier this year that one of four new shows the network has in pilot is Insatiable, a drama that was inspired by a Southern lawyer and beauty pageant coach. At the time, Bill Alverson, the Southern lawyer and beauty pageant coach who also is a producer for the show, joked that he was anxious about who might play the character who based on him.

This week, The CW revealed that Dallas Roberts will have the lead in Insatiable.

“I’m kinda happy about that,” Alverson said. “He’s been in a lot of stuff.”

Roberts had a recurring role on CBS’ The Good Wife and played Milton Mamet on AMC’s The Walking Dead. He also has a recurring role in the upcoming season of ABC’s American Crime. He also had a role in Dallas Buyers Club.

In Insatiable, Roberts will be a disgraced, dissatisfied civil lawyer-turned-pageant coach who takes on a vengeful, bullied teen (played by Debby Ryan) as his client. Sarah Colonna also stars, Deadline Hollywood reported.

“(Roberts) has played characters with varying personalities,” Alverson said Wednesday. “He appears to be an actor who can be multidimensional, and he’s done a lot of work. It makes me encouraged about the show.”

Alverson, whose reality series Coach Charming was filmed in Andalusia, has been working with writer Lauren Gussis of Ryan Segrest Productions, to develop the new show.

Insatiable will likely be filmed in Georgia, and shooting for the pilot begins in 30 to 60 days, he said.

“I hope to be able to visit on set,” he said. “It would be great to see it in the making.”
