The community’s help is needed this weekend to help get the Bright Beginnings Preschool’s playground up to state standards. Hannah Shakespeare of the Andalusia Housing Authority said that they are required to add rubber mulch to the playground in order to meet those standards.

“We just need people to show up and help,” she said. “And as many as possible.”

They have 10.5 tons of the rubber mulch in 40-pound bags to spread on the preschool’s playground.

The work day will begin at 8 a.m. If the work is not completed Saturday, it will resume after school on Wednesday.

Shakespeare said that they have the equipment needed, but locals are welcome to bring their rakes and wheelbarrows.

The preschool is located at 602 Seegers St. in Andalusia.
