The Opp Lady Tigers took advantage of timely hits to walk away with an 11-4 victory over Houston Academy on Friday night in the opening round of the Andalusia Bulldog Bash softball tournament in Andalusia.

In the top of the first inning, Houston Academy made the most of a couple of hits and errors to go on top 2-0.

The Lady Bobcats responded with a couple of hits to start the bottom of the first inning and then Ariyon Hightower sent a three-run blast over the fence in left center to put Opp up 3-2.

Maggie Short put the Lady Bobcats on top 5-3 in the bottom of the second inning with a two-run single.

“I thought we came through with some timely hits,” Opp head coach David McVay said.”Hightower’s home run sort of set the tone for us and showed the girls to just sit back and make solid contact. We then followed that up with some quality at bats. Pitching tonight was about average for us. We fell behind in some counts and gave up some hits, but I’m proud of the way we fought.”
