The Covington County Commission on Tuesday agreed to move the voting place at Straughn High School after hearing a request from Probate Judge Stacey Brooks.

Currently, she said, voters in the Straughn community cast their votes in the school’s ag building. The facility has a dirt parking lot, she said, and is not as accessible as the new location, the school gymnasium.

“The gym is a newer facility, has better parking, and is easier for voters to access,” she said.

Straughn High School’s principal, as well as the Covington County Board of Education, had already agreed to the change.
