Pair arrested for meth in Opp

An Opp man is behind bars for multiple drug and Sex Offender Registration Notification Act (SORNA) violations.

Opp Police Chief Mike McDonald said that on Thursday around 11:48 a.m., investigators and a Department of Human Resources worker went to Wood Field Apartments located on West Cummings Avenue.

“Their purpose was to determine if a convicted sexual offender was living in a particular apartment,” he said.

Subsequently, investigator learned that the sexual offender was living in an apartment which also housed three minor children.

McDonald said that an agent with the 22nd Judicial Drug Task Force joined the investigation.

McDonald said that Christopher J. Jackson, 30, was charged with failure to register, living in a prohibited residence; possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Also arrested was Danielle Nawlin, 32, of Opp. She was charged with possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both Jackson and Nawlin will be incarcerated in the Covington County Jail.
