Straughn rips Highland Home

The Straughn Lady Tigers had big bats going as they hammered the Highland Home Lady Flying Squadron 14-2 Thursday afternoon in Highland Home.

In the top of the first inning, Sarah Langford ripped a two-out single into left and then moved up to second when Colby Adams drew a walk.

Madison Harrison followed with a single that allowed Langford’s courtesy runner, Brittany Bates, to score the first run of the game.

On the mound for the Lady Tigers, Dallas Mackoff worked around a walk and single to keep Straughn on top 1-0.

Molly Stewart drew a walk to start the top of the third inning and moved up to third on a sacrifice bunt from Mackoff.

Langford then drove ball deep to center that allowed Stewart to tag up and give the Lady Tigers a 2-0 lead.

In the bottom of the third inning, Highland Home used five singles to tie the game 2-2.

The Lady Tigers went back on top in the top of the fifth inning with several big hits.

Mackoff reached on a two-out double and then scored on single by Langford.

Running for Langford, Bates came around to score off of a single from Adams to put the Lady Tigers up 4-2.

Morgan Bledsoe and Caroline Wood started off the top of the sixth inning with back-to-back singles.

Arizona Wiggins then ripped a one-out single to left that brought Woods into score.

A single from Stewart then gave the Lady Tigers a 6-2 advantage.

Mackoff followed with a sacrifice fly and an error off the bat of Langford put the Lady Tigers up 8-2.

In the top of the seventh, Harrison started the inning with a single and then Bledsoe hammered a home run over the fence in center to give the Lady Tigers a 10-2 lead.

Mackoff doubled a few batters later and Harrison drove in the final run of the game on a double-play ball.
