The Opp Police Department made several drug arrests over the weekend, including stopping two minors traveling 98 mph on Hwy. 331.

Opp Police Chief Mike McDonald said that on Sunday around 12:46 a.m., a D-shift unit clocked the juveniles going 98 mph in a 55 mph speed zone.

McDonald said that a subsequent investigation by D-Shift officers and K9 Balla resulted in the discovery of LSD, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

The minor were from Guntersville.

McDonald said they were held for the Department of Youth Services.

“Our residents are cautioned concerning high-speed traffic on Hwy. 331, as well as the Opp Bypass,” McDonald said.

On Friday, McDonald said they stopped a black 2007 Lexus on Veterans Memorial Highway for failure to display a rear license plate.

McDonald said an investigation by K9 Bella and the 22nd Judicial Drug Task Force resulted in the arrest of Tanisha R. Williams, 30, of Gardendale and Caprena P. Shunnarah, 23, of Hoover.

Both were arrested for possession of marijuana second.
