The Andalusia Bulldogs’ baseball team moved to 1-0 in area play after topping the Ashford Yellow Jackets 12-0 behind a shutout performance from Ethan Wilson on Thursday night in Andalusia.

“Anytime you have starting pitcher that throws the way Ethan Wilson did, you are going to have a chance to win,” Bulldog head coach Tyler Dent said. “I was very proud of the way he pitched today.”

Wilson had a no-hitter going with two outs in the top of the fifth inning before the Yellow Jackets were able to pick up their only hit of the game.

“This was just a good team win,” Dent said. “Our plate appearances were outstanding. I’m very proud of the way these kids played today. Now, I’ve stressed to them how important it is to go over there tomorrow and win two games.”

Gill Morgan led the way at the plate for the Bulldogs, going 2-for-2 with a single, triple, walk and three RBIs.

Will Jones finished the game 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

Riley Graham, Will Clark, Brennan Strong and Wilson finished with one RBI each.

The Bulldogs will travel to Ashford today for an area doubleheader.
