The Andalusia Bulldogs put up a strong fight, but fell 6-5 in extra innings to the Northview Cougars on Monday night in the first day of the 2017 Butch Youmans Memorial Tournament in Opp.
Northview grabbed the early lead, but the Bulldogs’ Will Jones and Sebaskin Stallworth scored on passed balls to put the Bulldogs up 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth.
Northview held a 5-3 lead going into the bottom of the seventh when Hogan Nichols drove in the tying run with a two-out double.
In the top of the eighth, Northview scored the winning run on a sacrifice bunt.
“That’s a really good team,” Andalusia head coach Tyler Dent said. “I was proud of the way the guys fought, but when you make mistakes against a good team like them, it’s going to hurt.”
