The Lower Alabama Arts Coalition has issued a call to artists for participation in a juried show planned for May, and is offering $1,300 in prize monies to participants.

Shelia Rhea, director of The Gallery, said there will be a grand prize of $500, and $100 first-place prizes in each of the eight categories, including Acrylic, Oil, Watercolor, Pastel, Mixed Media, Sculpture/Pottery, Photography and Charcoal/Graphite/Pencil/Pen & Ink.

Each artist may submit up to three works of art. Work must arrive ready for display with appropriate frames, wires, bases or display cases. The entry fee is $30.

Submissions will be accepted from April 25 through the close of business (5:30 p.m.) on May 5.

Winners will be announced at an awards reception on Tues., May 16, 2017, at 6 p.m. in The Gallery. The exhibition will hang for public viewing from May 16 through May 31.
