The Straughn HS FFA String Band and Quartet attended the FFA District Competition in Enterprise on March 23.
There were more than 800 students in attendance including six string bands and five quartets.
Straughn performed in both string band and quartet competitions bringing home first place banners in both events.
According to sponsor, Karen McGlaun, they are truly excited about the historical moment for these students.
“The string band and quartet have played several times at district and state but this is the first time in history of FFA at SHS that two first place banners were brought back to the trophy case at SHS,” she said. “I am extremely proud for these highly motivated students and their parental support. They both make my job really really easy. I look forward to state competition in June 6-10 in Opelika and Montgomery.”
