Covington County will soon have representation at the National Peanut Festival pageant, once again.

Christy Holland, who is organizing the county preliminary pageant, said there hasn’t been a local preliminary pageant in a long time here.

She said it’s too late this year for contestants to participate in the actual National Peanut Festival pageant.

“I’m going to go ahead and have the pageant,” she said. “The girls can still go to all the other events.”

Holland said this year contestants will be able to see the process and be involved.

“Next year, they will be able to participate in the entire event,” she said.

The categories are Baby to Miss.

The Miss category is for girls ages 17-21.

Holland said the pageant is set for May 6 at the Lurleen B. Wallace in Opp Conference Center. Baby through Future Little categories will be at noon and Little Miss through Miss at 2 p.m.

The entry fee for each contestant is $70.

All contestants will be judged on appearance, poise, communication skills, personal interview.

Holland said those who are interested in participating may pick up a form at Andalusia Florist and Gift or by emailing her at cjoyner@graceba.net or call her at 334-618-1642.

Applications are due by April 30.
