AHS inches toward area title

The Andalusia Bulldogs are one game away from clinching the 2017 Class 4A, Area 3 championship after  topping the Dale County Warriors 9-2 on Tuesday night in Dale County.

Ethan Wilson led off the game with a single and then moved around to second on a single from Riley Graham.

The Bulldogs then grabbed the lead when Will Jones dropped down a sacrifice to push Wilson across from the game’s first run.

Hogan Nichols followed with a double, but Graham was forced to halt his progress at third base.

The Bulldogs loaded up the bases when Sebaskin Stallworth was hit by a pitch.

J.W. Jones made the most of the bases loaded situation when he cleared the bases with a three-RBI double to put the Bulldogs up 4-0 after a half inning of play.

Wilson struck out the first batter in the bottom of the first inning and then got the second batter to ground out.

The third batter reached on a single and then stole second, but was thrown out trying to steal third.

Wilson picked up a pair of strikeouts in the bottom of the seond inning to keep the Bulldogs on top 4-0.

Dale County added one run in the bottom of the third inning.

Garrett Davis drew a walk to start things off for the Bulldogs in the bottom of the fourth inning and then came around to score when Gill Morgan ripped a double into the gap.

Wilson then traded places with Morgan with another RBI double to the outfield.

Nichols followed suit a few batters later with an RBI double to give the Bulldogs a 7-1 advantage.

In the top of the fifth inning, Wilson drove in another run with a single to put the Bulldogs on top
