Holy Week is sacred in the Christian church, marking the death of Jesus on the cross on Good Friday, followed by his resurrection on Sunday morning.

Here is the schedule of services submitted to The Star-News.

 

Today, Maundy Thursday

• Christ the King Catholic Church – mass of the Lord’s Supper, 7 p.m.
• St. Mary’s Episcopal Church – Maundy Thursday service, 6 p.m.
• St. Michael’s Anglican Church – Maundy Thursday, 6 p.m.

 

Good Friday

• Christ the King Catholic Church – Stations of the Cross, 3 p.m., and Celebration of the Lord’s Passion, 7 p.m.
• First Baptist Church Whatley Street will present “Messages from the Master” beginning at 6:45 p.m. on Good Friday, April 14.

Pastor Darryl Calloway said the service will include seven ministers each preaching seven minutes on the last seven sayings of Jesus.

Guest ministers include Darryl Bush, Willie Pugh, Phillip Morgan, Jason Thrower, Barry Wilkinson and Michael Clemons. The Andalusia First United Methodist Church choir will perform.

Refreshments will be served following the event.

• St. Mary’s Episcopal Church – services at noon and 6 p.m.
• St. Michael’s Anglican Church – Good Friday services, 1 p.m.
• Southside Baptist Church – 6 p.m. service.

 

Saturday

• Andalusia Church of God – Easter egg hunt and games, 2 until 5 p.m.
• Christ the King Catholic Church – Easter vigil mass, 7:30 p.m.
• First Baptist Church, East Three Notch – Easter egg hunt and activities, 10 a.m.
• Oakey Ridge Baptist Church – Easter egg hunt, 10 a.m.
• St. Mary’s Episcopal Church – Holy Saturday, 11 a.m.

 

Easter Sunday Sunrise Services

• Andalusia Ministerial Association, 6:15 a.m., at the Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.
• Babbie Baptist Church, 6:15 a.m., followed by breakfast.
• Bethany Baptist Church – 6:30 a.m.
• Oakey Ridge Baptist Church – 6 a.m.
• Sanford Road, hosted by Eldridge and Grimes families. Gather at 6:15 a.m., service will begin at 6:30 a.m. A light breakfast will be served.
