A 19-year-old is facing charges of sex abuse of a child less than 12 years old.
Florida Police Department Assistant Chief Jessica Lawhorn said that the department received a 911 call Sunday morning around 4 a.m., about the alleged sexual abuse of a 4-year-old child.
It is unclear if the victim was male or female.
Due to the circumstances and the victim being a minor, FPD is not releasing many details at this time, she said.
Officers arrested Robert Ryan Roberts, 19, and charged him with sex abuse of a child less than 12.
“He did confess,” Lawhorn said. “We made the arrest around 6 p.m., on Sunday.”
Lawhorn said the FPD is continuing to investigate the case and they are awaiting forensic evidence to come back.
Other charges may be forthcoming, she said.
Sex abuse of a child less than 12 years is a class B felony.
Roberts is being held in the Covington County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
