An Opp female was arrested this week on burglary and theft charges.
Opp Police Chief Mike McDonald said that Hannah D. McPherson, 24, was arrested on burglary third degree and theft of property II charges.
These charges stem from a residential burglary and the theft of firearms that took place on West Covington Avenue on April 5, he said.
“Over the past several weeks, we have had several vehicle burglaries resulting in the theft of firearms and other valuables,” he said. “It should be noted that these vehicles were not locked up. We have cleared several of these cases by arrest and have recovered some of the property that was stolen resultant to these crimes.”
McDonald said there are more criminals out there taking the place of the people they arrest.
“Further, many of the people that we arrest are making bond and quickly getting out of jail,” he said.
McDonald said residents are urged to lock their homes and vehicles when the are not attended.
