James Hubert Henderson Sr.

James Hubert “Booster” Henderson Sr. was born on Aug. 12, 1928, to the late Judge and Irene Henderson in Coffee County, Ala. He departed this life on Sat., April 22, 2017, at Mizell Memorial Hospital in Opp.

He was an entrepreneur in the agriculture and business arena. He was self-employed as a farmer, raising livestock and producing crops, and owner of a café restaurant.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Earlene Henderson; a daughter, Beverly Denise Perkins; his parents, Judge and Irene Henderson; three sisters, Mandy Jessie, Annie Mullins, and Tiny Davis; and three brothers, Willie Burns, Maxie Henderson and Sylvester Henderson.

He leaves to cherish his legacy and memories, four generations, including nine children, Sherry A. Thomas of Suitland, Md., Gloria Henderson, Sylvia (Jimmy) Tyson, both of Opp, James H. (Jessie) Henderson, Jr. of Suitland, Md., Jackie Daniels (Herbert), Calvin Henderson (Alice), both of Opp, Henri (Barbara) Henderson of Alexandria, Va., Pamela (Billy) Rodgers of Ozark, and Darrell O. Henderson of New York, NY.; a brother, James E. (Sue) Henderson of Opp; two sisters-in-law, Mattie Dixon of Dothan and Constance Bethune of Montgomery. He leaves four generations that includes nine children, 31 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

A celebration of his life is planned for 2 p.m. Aug. 29, 2017, at Nazareth Baptist Church in Opp. The Rev. Teddy Hill will officiate, Kirk’s Funeral Home directing. Interment will follow at Harden Street Cemetery, Opp.

Pallbearers will be the grandsons, Chris Henderson, Antwyn Tyson, Thomas Tyson, Jabbar Henderson, Lorea Henderson, LaVaughn Daniels, Earl Perkins, Jonathan Perkins, Bryan Perkins, Calvin A. Henderson, Maximus Henderson, Billy Rodgers Jr. and Travainta Rodgers.

His granddaughters and great-granddaughters will serve as flower bearers.

 

Jack R. Lunsford

Mr. Jack R. Lunsford, 79, of Andalusia, passed away Thurs., April 27, 2017, at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sat., April 29, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel interment in Hoomesville Church of Christ Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Foreman Funeral Home. Ministers Paul Swindle and Charles Jones will officiate the service with a eulogy given by Ray Castleberry. Congregational singing will be led by Ray Castleberry.

He is survived by his wife, Gayle Lunsford; two sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher Nathanael and Rachel Lunsford of Mobile, Stephen Jack and Karri Lynn Lunsford of Laurel, Miss.; and grandchildren, Nathan, Anna, Addison, Kalea, Marianna, Alyse, and Ace Lunsford.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Mary Ella Lunsford; and a brother, Lloyd Lunsford.

Pallbearers will be Allen Hunter, Jeff Stanford, Ray Castleberry, Lanny Smith, David Jackson, Anthony Spann

Honorary Pallbearers will be Harold Ward, Jimmy Ray Nelson, Frederick Blair, and Ronnie Crutchfield.
