Early morning wreck claims life of Red Level man

A single-vehicle crash at 2 a.m. today, Sun., May 7,  has claimed the life of a Red Level man.
Earl Leon Wingo III, 68, was killed when the 1980 Jeep CJ-7 he was driving left the roadway and overturned. Wingo, who was not using a seatbelt, was partially ejected and pronounced dead at the scene by Covington County Coroner Norman Hobson.

The crash occurred on Covington County 21 (Wallace Street) in the Red Level city limits. Although the circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation, preliminary investigation indicates alcohol was a factor in the crash.
Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
