OPD has busy weekend with alcohol, drug arrests

The Opp Police Department had a busy weekend with drug and alcohol-related arrests.
On Friday night, around 10:32, and OPD officer was conducting routine patrol on Hwy. 52, where he stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation, OPD Chief Mike McDonald said.
An investigation by the patrol officer resulted in the arrest of their Defuniak Springs minors for minor in consumption/ possession of alcohol.
On Saturday around 2:39 a.m., an OPD unit was dispatched to the Opp Bypass in response to a report of a reckless driver.
“The officer made contact with a 2008, tan in color Chevrolet Silverado,” McDonald said.
McDonald said that officers arrested Samson resident Tony L. Windham, 35, for driving under the influence of alcohol.
And on Sunday around 4:42 a.m., OPD stopped a vehicle on Hwy. 84 West for speeding.
McDonald said the driver was going 85 mph in a 65 mph speed zone.
The driver, Oslei Cruz-Espinoza, 20, of Dothan was arrested for possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
