Farmer’s Market to open Saturday

This spring’s warmer temperatures means local farmers have produce ready to sell, so the Power Plant Market Place will open this Saturday.

Manager Neal Dansby said there was good participation at the organizational meeting for vendors held last week.

“We try to adjust the market for when things are available,” he said. “We’ve had a warmer spring, so we have people ready to go.”

He anticipates having red potatoes, onions, English peas, string beans and squash available this week.

Local vendors who regularly sell homemade bread, cinnamon rolls, pounds cakes and other baked goods also are expected to be at the market this Saturday.

“We’ll have a pretty good variety,” he said.

The farmers’ market is open from 7 a.m. until noon on Saturday and Wednesday mornings throughout the summer.
