The Florala Lady Wildcats took an early lead, but Sweet Water turned it on to pick up a 16-1 victory in round one of the 2017 AHSAA Class 1A South Regional Softball Friday afternoon in Gulf Shores.
Grace Cox drew a walk to start the game off for the Lady Wildcats and then moved around to second on a single from Hannah Goodwin.
The Lady Wildcats then grabbed the lead when Katherine Vigil drove a single into the gap to score Cox.
In the bottom of the first, Cox struck out the first batter and then got two lazy pop flies to end the inning.
Sweet Water came on strong in the bottom of the second and scored 15 runs before a three-hour rain delay put the game on hold.
When play resumed, Sweet Water added one run and then picked up three outs for a 16-1 victory.
