Camps offer local summer childcare options for locals

The countdown to summer is on, and parents may need to figure out what to do with their children during the summer.

The City of Andalusia’s A.P.P.L.E. program will begin June 5.

The summer enrichment program will be held at Woodson Learning Center, Mondays through Thursdays from 7:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., beginning June 5 and ending June 29.

This program is open to current Andalusia City School students completing grades K-7.

Transportation will be provided to Woodson by ACS buses, and breakfast will be served from 7:30 a.m. until 8 a.m., and lunch will be served from 12-12:30 p.m.

A.P.P.L.E. Afternoons will be from 12:30 p.m. until 5 p.m., at Woodson Learning Center.

This program will run Monday through Friday, beginning June 5 through July 28.

The afternoon program is open to children ages 6-15 in Covington County.

Dinner will be served from 4 p.m. until 4:30 p.m., to all children in attendance and any child 18 and under who arrives at Woodson during the time.

Children must be picked up by 5 p.m.

Cost is $35 for one child; $55 for two children and $75 for three or more children.

Andalusia Full Gospel Tabernacle will hold its Camp Te Amo summer camp program for kindergarten through sixth grade.

The fee is $80 per week or $16 per day.

Full time and part time spots are available.

Breakfast and afternoon snack are provided, but students need to bring their lunch.

There are several planned field trips to the airport, Simply Donuts, the city parks, pizza parties, popcorn and movie days.

Southside Baptist Church has spots open for its Camp Sonshine program for school-aged children.

The cost is $85 per week, per child, with a 20 percent discount for multiple children.

Students must bring their own lunch, a bottle for water and two snacks per day.
