The Opp Board of Education met briefly Tuesday afternoon.

They voted to allow Superintendent Michael Smithart to hire three maintenance workers during the summer at a rate of minimum wage on an as-needed basis.

Additionally, they made the following personnel changes:

• Accepted the resignation of Jeremy Shaw as special education teacher at Opp High School;
• Non-renewed the contract of Jacob Nawlin, physical education teacher at Opp Middle School;
• Transferred Lance McCollough from transportation supervisor and physical education teacher to transportation supervisor and technology coordinator.
