Come July, Covington County residents who receive their garbage pick-up from Republic Services will see an increase in the price they pay.

Karen Sowell, county administrator, said that as part of the county’s contract with Republic Services, the company can increase rates annually, based on the consumer price index.

The fee was initially set to increase in June, but Republic Services asked to back it up to July to help their accounting department.

Greg White, county commission chairman, said that there would be a 2.15 percent increase in total price and a 2-cent increase in another fee.

Sowell said the price per quarter would now be $62.67, which is a 44-cent per month increase.
