Andalusia Isshinryu nets big victories

Andalusia Isshinryu Karate had five members earn medals recently in the Gulf Coast Martial Arts Championships held in Crestview, Fla.
The event was hosted by Gordon’s Martial Arts in Crestview.
Competitors competed in weapons, forms and fighting divisions for their age and belt rank.
Landon Caldwell picked up a first place finish in black belt fighting, second place in black belt weapons and third place in black belt kata.
Jacob Jernigan came home with a pair of first place finishes in intermediate belt fighting and intermediate belt kata. Jacob finished in second place in intermediate belt weapons.
Ashton Bailey notched a first place finish in beginner belt fighting.
Jarod Jernigan finished in second place in intermediate belt kata.
Keith Tankersley grabbed three third place finishes in senior black belt fighting, senior black belt fighting and senior black belt kata.
All of these competitors are students of Mark Rudd at Andalusia Isshinryu Karate.

Next up for Andalusia Isshinryu Karate, will be the South Alabama Karate Open on June 10 at Straughn High School.
Martial Arts schools from a six state area are scheduled to compete.
