The school year is almost over and summer time is fast approaching for students across the county.

This week, Straughn’s fourth and fifth graders excitedly discussed their upcoming summer plans.

Fourth grader Drew Ferguson said that he’ll be visiting his father along with Disney World, this summer.

“I’m going to my dad’s and we’re going to get to go to Disney World for the first time,” Ferguson said.

Fifth grader Ryan Cobb will be visiting the mountains and a different kind of amusement park.

“We’re going to the mountains in Tennessee,” Cobb said. “We went last year and I loved it. We’ll be going to Dollywood, too.”

Fifth grader Aliyah Evans won’t be visiting any amusement parks but she will have a busy summer nonetheless.

“We’re going to the beach, then New York and then Miami,” Evans excitedly said. “We’re going to each a bunch of pizza in New York!”

Fourth grader KayLynn Wagner will be working on her dance moves over the summer.

“I’m going to spend two weeks at dance camp in Dothan,” Wagner said. “We’re going swimming at the beach after that.”

Fourth grader Tucker Ward is looking forward to a chance to see his favorite baseball team for the first time.

“We’re going to the lake and to an Atlanta Braves baseball game,” Ward said. “They’re my favorite baseball team.”

Fifth grader Grant Barnes is looking forward to spending his summer playing baseball and going to the lake.

“I’ll be playing in All-stars for baseball and going to the lake mostly,” Barnes said.

Fifth grader Timberly Golden said that she can’t wait to visit Cheaha State Park in northern Alabama.

“In June we’re going to Cheaha,” Golden said. “It’s a fun place where you can go camping and it has really beautiful swimming spots.”
