Andy BOE OKs new hires

The Andalusia City Board of Education hired a number of teachers in preparation for the 2017-18 school year.

The board hired:

  • Hannah Cross, AHS choral teacher;
  • Carmen Martin, AHS science teacher;
  • Sara Catherine Patrick, AHS English teacher;
  • Jessica Bedsole, AES, grade level pending;
  • Jennifer Majors, AES, grade level pending;
  • Lori Godwin, AES, grade level pending;
  • and, Greeley Foshee, AES, grade level pending.

The board also:

  • Granted tenure to Tammy Pickard, AJHS, seventh grade science teacher.
  • Granted a leave of absence to Donna Neal, AES building service worker.
  • Transferred Sonja Hines from special education coordinator to federal programs coordinator;
  • Transferred Lindsey Cross, AES special education teacher, to special education coordinator.

The board also recognized retiring teacher, Betty Holmes, and Joan Mitchell, speech therapist.

The board will meet again at 10 a.m. Wed., June 7, with their architect.
