OPP SWEEPS TOURNAMENT: Lady Bobcats 8U All-Stars clinch district title

The Opp 8U All-Stars clinched the district title on Monday night when they defeated Brewton 22-1 in Opp.

In the top of the first inning, Carreline Spears got things started with a double to the outfield.

Spears then scored on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Bella Lashley.

Andrea Johnson and Ashlyn Henderson each secured RBI singles to put Opp up 3-0.

Opp’s defense was strong as they sat the Brewton All-Stars down in order in the bottom of the first inning.

Brynne Kelley and Grace Rhodes started the top of the second inning with singles and then came around to score on a single from Lyla Bruce.

Spears then picked up a single and an RBI to put Opp on top 6-0.

Opp continued to produce at the plate and took a 12-0 lead heading into the bottom of the second inning.

Opp made some more strong plays in the field, but Brewton was able to push across a run in the bottom of the second.

In the top of the third, Opp’s bats stayed hot as they went on top 16-1.

After holding Brewton in the bottom of the third, the Opp All-Stars piled on six more runs to go up 22-1.

With the win, the Opp All-Stars move on the state tournament on July 7 in Andalusia.
