Playing for the first time as a professional, former Troy Trojan Cam Norman won the Andalusia Pro-Am as he set Emerald Coast Tour records with his 36-hole and 54-hole scores. Joining Norman on the top of the professional leaderboard were former Trojans Jared Bettcher, Zach Portemont and Jake Tucker.
A native of Greenville, Ala., Norman was 18-under par through 36 holes and finished the event 25-under par with a 191 – both Emerald Coast Tour records. Norman, who tied for 23rdat the NCAA Championship last month, defeated amateur Brooks Rabren, a Straughn graduate, by five shots.
Bettcher, who was playing in just his second pro event, finished second among the pros at 18-under par, while Portemont, a 2011 Troy grad and Andalusuia native, fired a 15-under to finish third and Tucker, a 2015 Troy grad, finished fourth at 14-under par.
Tucker is the leading money winner on the Emerald Coast Tour thanks in part to his victory at the Dothan Pro-Am Classic in May.
The Troy men’s golf program is coming off its third straight NCAA Regional appearance under head coach Matt Terry. The Trojans finished sixth at the College Grove Regional in May, just one spot from advancing to the NCAA Championship.
