Ruby Clark Petty

Mrs. Ruby Clark Petty, 97, of Libertyville, passed away Sun., June 25, 2017, at Andalusia Manor.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tues., June 27, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Billy Boles officiating the service. The interment service will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Foreman Funeral Home.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Winston and June Blackmon of Crestview, Fla.; a daughter, Bobbie Dozier; four grandsons, Derek Blackmon, Kevin Blackmon, Joe Daniel Dozier, Byron Todd Dozier; three great-grandchildren, Jordan Blackmon, Sean Blackmon, and Kyle Daniel Dozier.

She is preceded in death by her husbands, Fenton Blackmon, Dewey Cowen, and Sylvester Petty; her son-in-law, Byron Dozier; two sisters and a brother.

Pallbearers will be Mrs. Petty’s grandsons and great- grandsons.

Billy Jim Bimbo

Billy Jim Bimbo, age 65, a resident of Elba, passed away unexpectedly Fri., June 23, 2017, at his home. A celebration of life service was held at Hayes Funeral Home Chapel on Tues., June 27, 2017, with the Rev. Travis Johnson officiating. Military honors were rendered at the conclusion of the service, and a reception followed at the Elba Country Club.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to do so to the Elba Country Club or to the Andalusia Rotary Club, P.O. Box 276, Andalusia, in memory of Billy.

Billy had a passion for life and was a natural fit for his position as sale manager for WFXX-Fox 107.7, where he had worked for the last 12 years. He will be remembered as an avid golfer where he frequently played at the Elba, Opp, and Andalusia Country Clubs. Those who knew him best can attest to his love for his family, friends, and Alabama football. He was an active member of the Andalusia Chamber of Commerce as well as the Andalusia Rotary Club where he was to serve as president beginning July 1, 2017. Billy also served in the Alabama National Guard where he retired after 33 years of service to his country.

He is survived by his son, Brett (Tara) Bimbo, DeFuniak Springs, Fla.; daughter – Beverlee (Pete) Manring, Elba; step-daughter, Stephanie Cosby, Kinston; and mother, Margaret Bimbo of Elba. Other survivors include granddaughters, Kymbria Bimbo of Elba, Braylee Bimbo of Elba, and Kate Bimbo, DeFuniak Springs; grandson, Jude Manring, Elba; step- granddaughters, Afton Smith and Lexi Smith, and Abbi Smith, all of Kinston; sisters, Jackie Bimbo of Elba, and Jennifer (Bruce) Bush, of Oxford, Ala. Billy leaves behind numerous friends, one of whom, Wayne Sutley of Elba, he thought of as a brother..

He was preceded in death by his father, William Joel Bimbo; and his brother, William Jeffrey Benbow.

Patricia L. Purdin

Ms. Patricia L. Purdin of Andalusia passed away Mon., June 26, 2017. She was 80. The family received friends Tues., June 27, 2017, at Scripture Truth Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wed., June 28, 2017, at the Scripture Truth Baptist Church. Keahey Funeral Home of Andalusia will be directing. Survivors include four sons, Dennis (Sarah Vane Versoza) Purdin of Andalusia, Donny Purdin of Andalusia, Danny Purdin of Andalusia, Tracy Purdin of Andalusia; one brother, Bob (Judy) Gauntt of Orchids, Wash.; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
