The City of Andalusia’s A.P.P.LE. after-school program is open to students in the ACS school system, grades K-8. A.P.P.L.E. is dedicated to Academic Acceleration, Parent Involvement, Physical Fitness, Leadership & Life Lessons, and Enrichment Activities.
This year, the after-school program continues to grow with the inclusion of an enrichment hour every afternoon from 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. A.P.P.L.E. leaders also keep students involved in their regular day class work through homework help and individualized tutoring along with 30 minutes of swimming, running, and playing every day.
The after-school program operates from 3 until 6 p.m. and follows the ACS’s academic calendar. Transportation is provided from school to Woodson by ACS buses.
Registration is under way, and continues through July. Registration fees are $35 for the first child and $20 for every child after that. Parents may register at the Woodson Learning Center (old Andalusia Middle School) weekday afternoons, and should have a registration form, Letter of Authorization to ensure access to your child’s information, and ACS Bus Transportation form. Forms can be picked-up/filled-out at the Woodson Learning Center (old AMS) between the hours of 12:30 and 4:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday. There will also be a mandatory parent meeting that must be attended by at least one parent or guardian. Failure to attend will place your child on a waiting list.
Meetings are scheduled for: Wed., Aug 2, 2017, at noon at the Woodson Learning Center cafeteria, OR Thurs., Aug. 3, 2017, at 5 p.m. or 5:45 p.m. both at the Andalusia Elementary School library.
