Alabama’s 12th annual sales tax holiday for school-related items begins at 12:01 a.m. Fri., July 21, 2017, and ends at midnight Sun., July 23, 2017, giving shoppers the opportunity to purchase certain school supplies, computers, books and clothing free of the state’s four percent sales or use tax. Cities and counties must notify the state that they will participate in the 2017 holiday by June 21. This is the first year the tax holiday will occur in July.

All of the local municipalities and Covington County are participating in this year’s event.
