The Andalusia City Council on Tuesday passed an ordinance which extends the franchise of the Utilities Board of the City of Andalusia for 30 years.

The board was established in 2004, at which time the council approved a 30-year franchise agreement. While the city still has 17 years left in the to the original agreement, work being done to refinance a bond will take payments beyond the ending date of the original agreement.

The council also agreed to enter into an agreement with Goodwyn Mills and Caywood to pursue a 2017 Community Development Block Grant with which to resurface streets.
