Bobcats prepare for football season

The Opp Bobcats look for a strong year as the prepare to open up the 2017 football season.
Opp opens the year at home when they host T.R. Miller on Sept. 1.
T.R. Miller currently holds a 19-14 lead in the series, but Opp won last year’s contest 30-20.
The Bobcats enter Class 3A, Region 2 play on Sept. 8 when they host the Straughn Tigers.
Straughn leads the all-time series 10-7, but Opp has won the previous two contests, including a 55-32 victory last season in Straughn.
Opp will hit the road for the first time in 2017 the following week when they travel to face Wicksburg on Sept. 15.
This is the second meeting between the two teams with Opp taking winning last year’s contest 28-16.
The Bobcats return to home to Channell-Lee Stadium on Sept. 22 when they host Houston Academy for homecoming.
This is the second meeting between Opp and Houston Academy with the Bobcats winning last year’s game 55-0 in Dothan.
On Sept. 29, the Bobcats make the short trip to Andalusia where they will square off with the Bulldogs in the two schools’ annual rivalry game.
Andalusia currently holds a 48-36-4 record over the Bobcats, including a 37-14 victory last year.
Andalusia has won the past eight contest between the two schools.
Opp stays on the road when they take on Slocomb for a region contest on Oct. 6.
The Bobcats hold a 3-1 series lead over Slocomb, including a 59-6 victory in last season’s game.
Returning to Opp on Oct. 13, the Bobcats will host region foe Providence Christian.
Opp won last year’s contest over Providence Christian 43-22. It was the first ever meeting between the two schools.
On Oct. 20, the Bobcats are back on the road as they travel to Geneva to take on the Tigers.
Opp holds a 36-23-2 overall record over Geneva, and won last year’s contest 55-23. Opp has won the past five games against Geneva.
The Bobcats will have their final regular-season home game on Oct. 27 when they take on Daleville.
Daleville currently holds an 11-10 lead in the series, but Opp has won the past three games, including a 32-29 victory last season.
Opp wraps up the regular season on Nov. 3 when they take on Elba in Elba.
Opp holds a 45-36 lead over Elba in the all-time series and have won the past two games between the two schools.
Last season, Opp defeated the Tigers 43-24.
