Covington County EMA conducted an active shooter exercise at Pleasant Home School Thursday.
“This exercise allows all participants to review the plans to ensure all are up to date and accurate,” EMA Director Susan Harris said. “It prepares school personnel and first responders on how to respond to these types of incidents.”
Those who participates included: EMA, E911, Covington County Sheriff’s Office, Incident Response Team, state bureau of investigations, 16 volunteers and a majority of the Covington County Schools administration.
“This drill proved to be eventful and successful,” Harris said. “The discussion among all agencies was great. “Everyone worked on understanding and planning on how to respond to incidents at the county schools.”
