Coffee connoisseurs, get ready.

Joe’s Barista is moving from its quaint, off-the-square location to the student center at LBWCC.

Owner Joe Davis said that the business was just breaking even at the shop downtown.

“We serve the best products,” he said.

Davis said college officials approached him about relocating his shop to the kitchen that formerly housed the culinary arts program at LBWCC.

Davis said he plans to open Aug. 21, the first day of classes.

“We will serve exactly what we served at the other shop,” he said. “However, we have to downsize a little bit. College students don’t have the budget others do. Instead of charging $8 for a burger, we will charge $6.50.”

Davis said he will still have salads and sandwiches, smoothies and of course, coffee.

The menu includes espressos, Americanos, lattes, cappuccinos, macchiatos, mocha lattes, drip, French press and ice coffees.

They also have Frappuccinos – mocha, caramel, vanilla bean, and more.

Davis said they will have specials, which will include things like lasagna and spaghetti.

“I’m excited,” he said. “Me and my helper have been straightening out the kitchen today to fit our needs. Everything depends on the street traffic for a coffee shop.”

Davis said he had a captive audience in the student center on Monday.

Hours of operation will be either 8-9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
