Star-News Classified marketing representative Charity Welcher retired last week. On Thursday, the Star-News staff held a retirement luncheon for Welcher, who worked 26 years at the newspaper in several different roles. They were joined by members of Welcher’s family, as well as staff members of The Star-News’ sister papers in Atmore and Brewton. Comments were shared by Publisher Michele Gerlach; Advertising Manager Ruck Ashworth; and Retail Marketing Representative Mollie Riley. Letters were presented from former publishers Mark Singletary, who hired Welcher; Bill Beckner; and Jim Morgan.
